Toddler Sense South Somerset

Like our sister franchise, Baby Sensory, Toddler Sense has been created by Dr Lin Day and is specifically designed to meet the developmental needs of toddlers. The main emphasis is on music, movement and mobility with each class meticulously constructed to excite your child’s imagination, to inspire learning, promote independence and support your child’s coordination and physical development. We’re so proud of the fact that Toddler Sense is a programme with its foundations firmly set in years of academic study; we’ve done the research, so you can enjoy the fun!

Each week has a unique theme, ensuring that your child will access a truly varied and stimulating learning experience, introducing them to a world of adventure! Imagine climbing aboard a rocket and zooming through space, diving to the bottom of a magical sea or partying in a castle like princes and princesses. Or would you like to swing through the jungle, be a firefighter or hunt for dinosaurs?

Adventure Play

Toddler Sense classes start in our adventure play area. It’s a great way of enabling children to settle into the class at their own pace. The play area will contain a variety of equipment including soft play, bouncy castles, balancing beams, tunnels and tents which is great for the more energetic and confident children to burn off some energy before the activities which follow.

Children are encouraged to use the equipment in imaginative ways to fit with the week’s theme. We have a huge range of equipment and resources; the children can’t wait to see what they will find set up each week. This encourages even the most nervous and least mobile children to explore which is great for development gross motor skills.

Activities

The adventure play time is followed by our activity session, which is rich in sensory exploration, imaginative play, much loved songs, dance and creativity. Our friend Tod guides us in our adventure and explains why we do what we do and how it aids our development. Activities are kept short, dynamic and fun, and include props that engage the children in the action.

This part of the session is carefully planned to support the development of communication and social skills, including turn-taking and co-operation.

So come and join us and see where your imagination takes you!
